SAT/ACT TEST PREP
The SAT is also a test that students must take in order to apply to most colleges All four-year colleges and universities accept the SAT The SAT has scores raining from 600 to 2400 and 3 subscores of 200 to 800. It is offered 8 times a year The three sections are Critical Reading, Writing and Mathematic The test takes a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes (excluding breaks) 1/4 points taken off for wrong answer and 1 point given for right answer. Getting wrong on the grid in doesn't take off any points questions ordered by difficulty with the exception of critical reading passage questions. There is an essay writing portion in the Writing section that is scored from 1-12. The SAT also measures high school student's college readiness but has faced a lot of controversy for not mirroring highschool curriculum The SAT will change in 2016. The test will revert to the 1600 point system and will no longer deduct points for incorrect answers. The College Board will focus less on rare vocabulary words and more on words actually seen in college courses. The essay is optional and the math section will no longer allow the use of calculators
The ACT is one of two tests, the other being the SAT that students must take in order to apply to most . All four-year colleges and universities accept the ACT. The ACT has a composite score from 1-36 and 4 Subscores of 1-18. It is offered in the US 6 times a year The four sections are English, Mathematics, Reading and Science The test takes a total of 2 hours and 55 minutes (excluding breaks). English(45 minutes), Mathematic(60 minutes), Reading(35 minutes), and Science(35 minutes) No points taken off for wrong answer, and 1 point given for right answer There is an optional writing test (strongly recommended) that takes 30 minutes. The ACT measures high school student's college readiness and is considered to be more straightforward than the SAT.
